The Story Behind SaTerra Minerals
By: Marina Bekker
We all find ourselves on a journey, and mine started with the common realization that we are all connected. Spiritually and universally, we are all part of something larger than ourselves. Once I saw this truth, there was no turning back and I have dedicated my time and efforts to my passion of bringing joy and unity to the world. This is reflected in my work.
Crystal-osophy: In my experience, I found that certain crystals are “meant to be” with a person and in many ways I see myself as a match-maker that spends time getting to know you to find the piece that is right for you. I want nothing more than a long-lasting, deep, and impactful relationship for each of your purchases, which is why I work hard to hand select the crystals that are an energetic match. This is also what drives me to seek exceptional, unique and rare specimens that you won’t find anywhere else. I am excited by making connections with dealers and miners around the world that offer me great deals that I bring to my community.
Crystal-unity: What I have worked very hard for is building a community more than a marketplace. It is important for me to make a space where like-minded people can come together, make connections, and elevate each other. More than ever, it is important for us to be able to grow personally and spiritually, and support each other on our journeys.
An interview with Marina Bekker, co-founder of SaTerra Minerals
Q: What do you use crystals for personally?
A: Do you take baths? I love a good bath, and what makes them even better are some salts and crystals in the base! Vibrations are real, and we do sync up to vibrations around us, like our monthly cycles, so why not this? I love wearing crystals that are pretty and unique as jewelry instead of infusing my body with plastic and rough metals. I keep my apartment gridded up for protection with black tourmeline and smokey quartz, and my bedroom nice and peaceful with ocean jasper, amethyst, and celestite. I have been know to sleep with a rock or two (funny to discover that when one goes to snuggle with me.) My choice of sleeping rocks are aqua, scolecite, fluorite and experimental stones to see what they can teach me.
Q: Do you have a favorite crystal/mineral?
A: If you came over you would see that there is no sign of a favorite as I work with so many for so many different reasons. I do however tend to favor aquamarine and chalcedony for its peace and tranquility, which is something I need very badly. I don't like to stay grounded, which is why I need to keep lots of grounding stones around. I am a Capricorn in a Capricorn city, so "chill" is a word I need to learn, and these stones help set the tone.
Q: Can anyone find use in using crystals?
A: That's funny. I do tell skeptics all the time: You buy art, right? Not for its healing properties but because it resonates with you or touches upon an emotion that you would like to revisit daily. Well at the VERY least that is what a crystal offers. The least use you can get out of it is waking up to it by your bed or walking past it in your living room and admiring how shiny or cool it is. That feeling is real. It will make you smile, or release some tension, or remind you how powerful you are. There is truth and transformation in that alone. I, as well as thousands who experience more and more the connection with crystals, do believe that they bring energy to your life that infuse needed vibrations like medicine to your daily practice
Q: Any advice for people getting into crystals for the first time?
A: YES! Stop reading advice on what crystal you need! There is no doctor with the right combo! Do NOT doubt yourself. The power of crystals is the same as art. You don't ask your friends or blogs or professionals about which painting or sculpture to put in your home. You FEEL it, it comes to you staring you in the face and says BUY ME... so do just that! These crystals have a very different relationship with each person and often serve a multitude of purposes. I would often have profoundly different experiences with certain crystals from what I read I should experience and felt insecure about talking about it. Once I did, I discovered that a lot of my friends felt what I felt and not what they read. So my advice is start where you want to start, this isn't science and you don't need to start with 101. Play with what feels good! It's like a coloring book for adults but the colors are crystals and the canvas is your home, office, car, etc.
