A look into team member Melissa's journey with weight

As a little girl growing up, you could consider me average/normal-sized, but from what I heard from others "you are gaining weight", "you are getting chubby", "you look great, don't gain a pound more". These were words I heard in family gatherings and would subconsciously affect the way I viewed myself. Who can relate? Say I!

I didn't eat healthy, or I didn't eat at all to not "gain weight", and I remember my breakfast in high school being a Dunkin Donuts mocha iced latte (it got to the large size by my senior year), and lunch would be an iced tea brisk with chocolate chip cookies (I didn't like school lunch), and that would sustain me until dinner time (with my stomach growling the whole time, poor thing). I would never be able to do that NOW.

Long story short, my weight fluctuated. Going on a "diet" was something I did temporarily in hopes to get my weight down and feel better about myself, but I was going about it the wrong way.

Before social media, it was just what you read in magazines or saw on tv. "Workout and you will be fit." "Eat this and you will lose weight". But this will never work for someone in the long run.

I avoided mirrors subconsciously, but my clothes couldn't hide the fact that they weren't fitting me anymore, and I refused to purchase bigger sized clothing. Something had to give! I wanted something I could do that tasted good, that could give me community/accountability, and to have the chance to live a healthier lifestyle (no diet).

I kept watching one of my childhood friends on Instagram and she looked AMAZING (mother of 3), so I decided to give it a try. I was doing nothing and the pounds were rolling on. I desperately needed help!

I joined a 30-day program of Herbalife Nutrition and I lost a healthy 8 pounds and felt great. I followed the plan and as the days passed by, I had energy, I was no longer hangry/irritable and the weight shredded slowly. How did this happen? I said YES to ME.

There is no magic to living your best life, you just have to say "I need a change", "I need to do better for ME" and give it a shot. What did I have to lose? Nothing. I fell in love with the products, the community, and purpose. I decided to join and become a coach and help others in their journey to looking and feeling their best, whatever that may mean to them.

I have been a Wellness Coach for the last two years and have had the opportunity to help many clients look and feel their best! I love to connect with new people and help them with the knowledge that I learned.
