My name is Melissa and I’m proud to say I am a clean beauty advocate.
If you were to have asked me even a year ago if I ever saw myself selling skincare and makeup products I would have laughed and said, ARE YOU KIDDING?! Social media marketing has such a bad rep. So what changed for me? Let me break it down for you:
My aunt has lung cancer, my godmother had thyroid cancer and I have watched them both suffer and battle through. My passion for cancer prevention has always been strong but their diagnosis has ignited a fire in me. I want the assurance that what I am putting on my skin does not contain known carcinogens.
I have a two daughters and one son...how do I keep them healthy and avoid chemicals that could lead to cancer, allergies, and infertility? We start at home with the foods we eat, what we clean our home with and the products we use every single day.
Is what we put on our skin as important as what we put in our bodies? Absolutely! Our skin is our LARGEST ORGAN! Can our skincare and makeup make us sick over time & potentially cause cancer, immunosuppression and even infertility? The hard truth is that they can.
I have struggled for years thinking I wasn’t pretty enough, skinny enough or brave enough to make a difference. I watched others on social media and would admire their words and bravery to speak up. I needed something like Beautycounter to help me feel comfortable in my own skin, feel supported, and to give me the tools I needed to make that difference and create meaningful income for my family!
Today I feel blessed to have helped get clean beauty into the hands of other families! I joined Beautycounter when my husband was furloughed during the pandemic and we needed income. My business was a lifeboat for us and now to be a voice in educating women AND men about skincare and what they put on their bodies is an honor. (Especially because a major federal regulation pertaining to product safety hasn’t been passed since 1938!)
